Fourier transform and love

“so were you busy?”
“yeah, I have a test this Tuesday. Was trying to study for that!”
“Oh m sorry!”
“No, You are good. M glad that you called but sorry I will only be able to talk for 15mins or so”
“ Oh that’s gr8 hehe”
“So what is the test about?”
“Yaar! you wont believe!! Its gr8! I simply love what I am doing! And the material for this test is wonderful”
“Really? Girl you are so lucky!!”
“Yeah though I think people will think I am not doing gr8, thinking in the long term right? As I did not opt for residency and all. As that is what’s considered being successful”
“C’mon yaar! People will always have something to say. Their merits for a good and successful life are all made by a pressing culture around us. Man if u can do what you love to, what else can be better than that! For me these are the moments in the life that are important. They make it huge. These great moments that you are having while you are learning and doing what you love, no so called “successful life” can give you”
“That’s so true. I simply love all this. I never thought I will be able to read and understand all about the fourier transform and all the physic laws I was always so thrilled by. I had thought “now it has to be medicine for the rest of my life”. But now when I am learning and understanding all this, it gives such a great feeling that I don’t have words to explain.”
“Yup sweetie! I understand. I am so happy for you. I must tell you that you are so lucky. I do not hate medicine. In fact I like it. But I do not love it. And I think you know what’s the difference between “love” and “like” hehe”
“I very much know..hehe”
“yeah and worse is when I know what I love and I cant do that. but I have to stick myself to what I like”..
“hmm”
“because I know I cant excel in anything without passion. And passion comes with love. Anyways tell me about Fourier transform”

After the call I realized I definitely took more than 15mins of my beloved friend. But the conversation was great. I cherish it even this moment and it puts a smile on my face every time I think about it. I learnt a lot in those 20 minutes or so. About awesome fourier transform and so many other things. But what made me real happy was this that my friend (unlike me) actually loves what she is doing. I can feel the joy in her voice. Though, I would have loved to watch it in her sparkling eyes.
I do not know if that day will come or not but I hope someday I will do what I love, what I really want to do. But my own words kept coming back to me – these are the moments in life that matter. For they make it huge or small. Though I am not able to do what I love, still I am clever or may be lucky enough to catch these lovely moments from life every now and then. And certainly they make it so huge, so beautiful, and so serene.
